When I come home with flowers,
Will you be waiting for me in the wee hours?
At the iron gate in the stinging cold
To hug tightly and hand-hold
When I get home haggard from my journey,
Will you whisper ‘welcome home honey?’
And plant a kiss on my cold cheek
To make my already tired knees weak
When I wake up groggy and famished,
Please serve me pancakes that are butter garnished
And let the aroma of hot coffee waft through the room
To wipe away the cheerless morning gloom
