DO NOT CRY

DO NOT CRY

Do not cry my darling
For I waited for too long
Do not cry
Because you thought too long
Was not really so long
But my heart remained open

Do not cry, my dear darling
For I served you my every teardrop
Till my eyes went dry
But you let them seep into the pillow
Really you won’t cry for me, dear darling
Because to you
Those tears were not tearful enough

Do not cry my darling
For I swept away every stanza
Of stray thoughts till dawn
And left you a vast space to reside
A space you wished away to the winds
Really, you won’t cry!

Do not cry, dear darling
For I saved my middle finger, long enough
Just for your ring to fit
Do not cry
Because you let this finger thin with void
Till the ring fell off with fate
Really you won’t cry!

Do not cry
For I burnt the candle light till dawn
Whispering with the gods till morn’
The parrot picked it away and gone
Really you won’t cry!

Do not cry, dear one
For you’ve strengthened me enough
To take you for granted
Really you won’t cry
For the minutes you let away
Are gone without tarry
I cannot pick them back
For I am set to go

Really, you won’t cry, dear darling
For we may not try again
